CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - A two-phase Sea Turtle Camp is currently on stream in Nevis and is aimed at providing knowledge to some 85 children on sea turtles and their habitats. The camp is being hosted by the Four Seasons Resort.
According to the President of the Nevis Turtle Group, Lemuel Pemberton, who is also one of the facilitators at the camp, nine to 16-year-old children would be taught about turtles and how they are endangered. The camp will run from July 22 to July 24 and July 28 to July 30.
Pemberton said the children would become honorary members of the Nevis Turtle Group at the conclusion of the two-phase camp.

Other facilitators at the ongoing camp are Sara Ramirez of the St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network; Dr. Emma Harrison, Scientific Director Caribbean Conservation Corporation; and Dr. Kimberly Stewart, Director St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network, Ross University of Veterinary Medicine.
Barbara James, Coordinator Kids for All Seasons said the objective of the Sea Camp is to educate children on the plight of endangered sea turtles. “Children are our greatest asset. They are our tomorrow’s leaders. They will be tomorrow’s policy makers and can make an impact now and tomorrow,” she said.
James said 85 children would be participating in the camp and, on completion of their training, they would link up with the local Nevis Turtle Group.
Pemberton thanked the Four Seasons Resort for sponsoring the camp and for contributing to the conservation of sea turtles.
