15 athletes selected to represent SKN at CAC Championship

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FIFTEEN athletes and four officials were selected to represent the Federation at the upcoming 2012 Central America and Caribbean Junior A and B Championship to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador from June 29 to July 1.

     

    According to the Public Relations Officer of the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA), Evris Huggins, he would be travelling with the team as its Manager with Donnell Esdaille as Head Coach, John Heyliger as Throw Coach and Roatter Johnson as the Jump Coach.

     

    Listed below are the names of the 15 athletes and the events in which they are scheduled to compete:

     

    1. Renika Daniel - Under 18 Female 400m
    2. Bevecia Clarke - Under 18 Female Discus
    3. Yasmin Browne - Under 18 Female Javelin
    4. Clairvorn Kelly - Under 18 Male High Jump and 4X100m
    5. Nathaniel Huggins Under 18 Male Long Jump, High Jump and 4X100m
    6. Oniel Thomas - Under 18 Male 400m Hurdles
    7. Kajon Parris - Under 18 Male 800m
    8. Xavier Francis - Under 18 Male 200m and 4X100m
    9. Sadiki Tyson - Under 18 Male 100m and 4X100m
    10. Josiah Oyebefun - Under 18 Male 200m and 4X100m
    11. Adrian Williams - Under 18 Male Javelin and 4X100m
    12. J’Anthon Silliday - Under 18 Male Javelin and Shot Put
    13. Stavia Lewis - Under 20 Female Discus
    14. Brittany Morton - Under 20 Female 100m and 200m
    15. Izaun Ward - Under 20 Male 800m

     

    Huggins said that the team would depart the Federation on Tuesday (June 26) and return on Tuesday (July 3) 2012.

     

    “President of the SKNAAA Mr. Glenville Jeffers will be joining the team in El Salvador on July 1 to attend the CAC Congress, and the Executive body of the Association extends congratulations to all athletes on their selection to the 2012 CAC Junior A and B Championship team,” the PRO added.

     

    The last time athletes from the Federation participated at the bi-annual CAC Junior A and B Championship was in 2010 in Santo Domingo.

     

    At that meet, the Federation won two Silver medals with Jason Rogers placing second in the Under-17 Male 100m and Adrian Williams who placed second in the Under-20 Male Javelin.

     

    "Much is expected from Williams at the Championship. We are looking forward to another good performance from him, similar or better than the one last year when he  won a Bronze medal for his Javelin throw event at the Commonwealth Youth Games on the Isle of Man.
