BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FORMER Finance Manager of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority Wayne Clarke is facing a charge of larceny by servant.

Larceny by servant is said to be an offence that occurs when one steals from one’s employer and the maximum sentence for that charge in the Federation is seven years imprisonment.

A reliable source informed SKNVibes that sometime during April, last, Clarke was arrested and charged with stealing some EC$30 000 from his employers.

He was on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison and obtain his conditional freedom on Friday, June 15.

When contacted, SKNVibes asked Clarke if he would like to comment on the issue to which he responded “no comment”.

Chief Executive Officer of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Rosita Jeffers said that she too was unable to comment on the matter.

“The whole matter is in the hands of the police. It would be inappropriate for me to comment at this time.”

Jeffers said that Clarke was employed as the Finance Manager in 2010 and that his services were terminated in May.

SKNVibes received information that Clarke’s predecessor is also facing a similar charge.

“At this point in time I cannot respond to that. We did have a previous Finance Manager and Mr. Clarke replaced that individual in 2010. Quite an unfortunate incident occurred and again it is still in the hands of the lawyers and I cannot comment on that either,” Jeffers said when questioned about the former Finance Manager's dismissal.

As the Finance Manager of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, one is responsible for the entity’s money and one’s duties include the paying of salaries and the signing of cheques.

Clarke is also the owner of Pandas Entertainment, a company that organised three events last year, including ‘A Stitch in Time’ which was touted as the most massive concert St. Kitts had seen in recent times.

According to mugshots.com, an international website which is a search engine for Official Law Enforcement records, specifically booking photographs that are originally collected and distributed by law enforcement agencies, Clarke was also facing charges of grand theft in Florida in 2006.
