Major turnout at Horsford's Father's Day Sale and Wellness Fair

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

    124 received free health screening

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FATHERS across the island of St. Kitts got off to a healthy and early Father's Day start when they gave themselves gifts by getting their blood pressure, blood glucose and body mass index (BMI) tested absolutely free.

These freebies came complimentary with the SL Horsford and Company Ltd's Building Center annual Father’s Day Sale and Men's Wellness Fair which took place at the store's location on Wellington Road on Saturday (June 16).

The sales event which spanned a two-day period began on Friday (June 15) and saw massive store-wide discounts of up to 30 percent with the free health screening being done on the following day.

Facilitated by the Windsor University School of Medicine with some 45 student volunteers, approximately 124 persons, either before or after taking advantage of the discounts offered, got free health screening.

Fifty-nine persons checked only their blood pressure, as per request, while the remaining 65 had all three areas checked.

Free medical advice was given where needed while counselling and educational materials on prostate and heart health were also offered.

Each participant also each received a gift package from the Horsford Building Centre in commemoration of the Fathers’ Day celebration.

The 'icing on the cake' came when Michael Dore was announced winner of the Father's Day Draw winning himself a Dewalt Compound Power Saw valued at more than $1 200; a draw that only required one to spend EC$100 or more during the two-day sale.

According to S. L. Horsford’s Marketing Executive Wallis Wilkin, the sale was a major success.

"The sale response was an overwhelming one. We are particularly satisfied with the turnout at the Wellness Fair which saw over 100 persons who got their blood pressure, blood glucose and body mass index checked," Wilkin explained.

Wilkin promised that customers could expect a similar event before the end of the year.

He reminded that Horsford's Building Center is "the only place that gives discounts all day, every day where customers could gain 15 percent minimum discount with Horsford's Discount Forever".
