Press Release

KINGSTOWN St Vincent, June  19th, 2012   --  Issues relating to the National Population and Housing Census will be discussed here tomorrow, during a media statement from Leader of the Opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) Arnhim Eustace.

A release from the Statistical Department in the Ministry of Finance and Planning says this will be done during a News Briefing to take place at the NDP Headquarters from noon. Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves officially launched the exercise at a News Conference last Thursday, emphasizing its importance to national development.

The 2012 Census Exercise began last Tuesday with the physical counting of the homeless and will continue for the next eight weeks   in all communities across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

It is being carried out at a cost of three million EC dollars, as a collaborative effort of the Statistical Department, the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA and CARICOM.
