BASSETERRE St. Kitts, June 21st, 2012 -- The People’s Action Movement’s East Basseterre Group organized Father’s Day Luncheon has been deemed a massive success. This according to the party’s East Basseterre Activities and Events Chairperson Natasha ‘Shanny” Grey. The annual event took place on Father’s Day at the Manhattan Garden restaurant and drew hundreds of party supporters and others.
The luncheon kicked off at 1pm and featured performances by King Socrates and his Kool Rythyms band along with a poetic performance by MC Ken Crossley and a special performance by Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Siobhan (Shivonne) Phipps.
President of the East Basseterre Young Pamites Ms Terrelah Byron introduced the featured speaker Leader of the Federal Opposition and Deputy Political Leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement the Hon. Mark Brantley whose presentation was undoubtedly the highlight of the afternoon’s proceedings.
Brantley spoke of the immense contribution of the People’s Action Movement to the development of the federation and made particular reference to the PAM/NRPcoalition government which was led by the federations first Prime Minister Dr.the Rt Hon. Sir Kennedy Simmonds and the recently passed Dr. Simeon Daniel whoBrantley referred to as the Father of a modern Nevis.
The afternoon also featured a special presentation to well known East Basseterre Community icon William Tyson (Syder). Tyson was awarded for his contribution to the East Basseterre community as a businessman and family man.
Syder was introduced by Dr. Leroy Richardson and remarks were given by Event and Activities Chairperson Natasha “Shanny” Grey.
“We are extremely pleased with the luncheon event and it shows the interest andvibrancy of the party, it’s members and activities”, said Grey.
Grey continued, “Sunday’s event drew the largest crowd of any of our past Father’s Day luncheons and this in my view speaks well for the East Basseterre PAM andthe party on a whole.”
Party Leader Mr . Lindsay Grant also gave brief remarks and admonished the audience to be ready to be counted on to mobilize as elections may be a lot sooner than is imagined.
According to Grey the East Basseterre Groups next activity will be a take-away breakfast on a date and venue to be announced.
