BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Crime Scene Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has come in for special praise from Commissioner Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn, as a result of its success in identifying the human remains recently found in a 180-foot well in the White gate area.

A release from the Force’s Public Information Officer (PIO), Sergeant Stephen Hector, noted that the Federation’s major law enforcement agency’s enhanced forensic ability is a direct result of the support of the government and private sector initiatives, as well as the vision laid by Commissioner Walwyn on September 1, 2011.

“Our vision is clear but as an agency we must remain focus and united with our law enforcement partners in our quest to ensure the security demands of the Federation are met. The support of the Defence Force, Customs and Excise and the Fire and Rescue Services cannot be overly emphasised,” Hector said.

He stressed that success in the recent homicides would not have been possible without the public’s participation in the Police Force’s network of information sharing and community policing initiatives.

The PIO advised that the public should continue to practice safety tips provided by the police and to report all matters of missing persons in a timely manner.

“As law enforcement executes new initiatives, we expect for trends to be modified. We therefore request of the public to continue to practice our safety and crime prevention tips which were previously posted with all media houses. We urge you to report all matters quickly, especially those which involve persons who are missing.”

Hector stated that with effect from today (June 22), all law enforcement officials would be engaged in more frequent street patrols and they therefore request the public’s cooperation.

“We are cognisant that this increased presence would cause delays and dissatisfaction to many. However, we do crave your support for the greater good of ensuring the safety and security of all persons within the Federation.”

On Tuesday, last, police positively identified the human remains discovered in a 180-foot well within a tall-grassy patch of land in the White Gate area in Dieppe Bay as those of 17-year-old Jakeel Alford.

Alford was last seen alive late Thursday afternoon (June 7).

And SKNVibes learnt that members of the Crime Scene Unit, under the command of Lieutenant Alexander, had identified the remains by means of fingerprints from one of his hands that was not entirely destroyed when the body was burnt.
