Bank Account number established for donations towards ‘Hotness’s care

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A BANK ACCOUNT has been established at National Bank for Shakeem ‘Hotness’ Walters, for persons interested in making monetary donations for his care and advanced treatment.

According to his mother, Shermel Walters, persons can make donations to Account Number: 10253357.

Her son is said to be paralyzed from the waist down and blind following a shooting incident where he was shot in the head and chest on Friday, January 20, 2012

The then 16-year-old was left in a pool of blood, lying on Park Street in the vicinity of the National Housing Corporation (NHC) before he was discovered and rushed to the hospital.

He has been in the hospital since and has had to celebrate his 17th birthday  on May 2, with a few friends from his hospital bed.

SKNVibes visited him in the hospital where his mother said he is ready to be discharged but she is hoping to acquire a suitable home for him.

One without a long stairway as their present home has, because he would be in a wheelchair.

The once jolly teenager, who became very popular in St. Kitts because of his manner of dress and hairstyles, is now bed ridden.

It is a situation he said that makes him cry from time to time when he thinks about the physical and mental state he is in.

Walters had told SKNVibes that he believes he was shot because of the lifestyle he chose, but quickly noted that dressing that way was him being himself.

“I don’t think I deserved what happened to me, but now I know God wants me closer to him,” he added.

An arrest was made the on same day that Walters was shot. Police had formally arrested 21-year-old Nyon Dasent of Wellington Road, Basseterre. Two days later he was charged with attempted murder of the teenager.

Walters can be contacted via his uncle, Rudolph Walters, at 664-5307.
