BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO men on Tuesday (June 19) were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of firearm and ammunition.
According to Police Press and Information Officer (PIO) Sergeant Stephen Hector, on Tuesday, last, officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force had conducted a series of Stop and Search Operations for controlled drugs, arms and ammunition in Newtown, Taylors, Shadwell, Conaree and Monkey Hill.
Hector noted that during the operation, one of several vehicles stopped and searched revealed two backpacks belonging to Rajhan Ferdinand of Lower Monkey Hill and Shakeem Parris of Shadwell had contained a large quantity of cannabis.
He also noted that during the search of the vehicle within which the two men were, police had found one Glock Model 27 Calibre .40 semi-automatic pistol and six matching rounds of ammunition.
The PIO said that a warrant was subsequently executed on the two men’s premises where another large quantity of cannabis was found in Ferdinand’s home.
SKNVibes learnt that the cannabis was found hanging in Ferdinand’s bathroom.
Hector also said that the cannabis found in the two men’s possession has an estimated street value of EC$210 000.
The PIO stated that during another operation in the Milliken area, members of the Anti-Narcotics Unit uprooted 437 cannabis plants ranging from two to 15 feet in height with an estimated street value of EC$262 200.
However, no information was provided on who was cultivating the plants or if anyone was arrested.
