    National Consultation on Economy slated for August 14

    St. Kitts and Nevis' Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas

     

    Basseterre, St. Kitts – Government officials have announced that the National Consultations on the Economy for 2008 will be themed around the federation’s 25th year of National Independence.

     

    The annual sessions are attended by various economic stakeholders including individuals from the public sector, the business sector, the clergy, the educational fraternity, the diplomatic corps, youth organizations, political organizations and interested persons of the general public.

     

    For this convening of the Consultation discussions will be geared around the theme “External Shocks and Changes in the International Environment – Our Analysis and Response.”

     

    In excess of two hundred delegates will be invited to the momentous conference, which will highlight and examine the challenges facing the economy. The discussions will be held with a view to developing recommendations in preparation for the fiscal year 2009 Strategic Planning Process. ~~Adz:Right~~

     

    Key items on the agenda are Fiscal Policy, Debt Management, National Security, Agriculture, Industry and Commerce, Public Utilities and Tourism.

     

    Attendees of last year’s Consultation heard presentations delivered by the Federation’s Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas and Nevis Premier, Hon. Joseph Parry. A senior official in the Prime Minister’s office said that at this time he could not confirm Parry’s presence at the 2008 National Consultation on the Economy.
