Press Release

KINGSTOWN St.Vincent, June 19th, 2012  --  The Statistical Office in the Ministry of Finance and Planning is taking steps to ensure that the data collected during this year’s Census Exercise is processed more quickly and efficiently.   This assurance came from Chief Statistician Gatlin Roberts, during a News Conference.

Miss. Roberts noted that many of the questionnaires were tardy in coming into the Office last year, because of the challenges which the Enumerators encountered in the field in securing the data from the respondents.

She said steps are being taken this year to avoid a recurrence of this situation.

According to Miss Roberts, the staff of the Statistical Unit will act as Liasion Officers, with each person being assigned two Census Divisions, interacting on a regular basis with the Area Supervisors and other field Staff.
