    Senior Youth Officer Dave Connor
Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 09, 2005):
St. Kitts and Nevis will benefit from participation in the Caribbean conference and launch of Game On! Youth Sports an initiative of the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) based in Florida.
Senior Youth Officer Dave Connor in the Ministry of Education, Youth, Social and Community Development and Gender Affairs will attend the March 10 to 12 event slated for Roseau, Dominica. Connor, a former officer in the Department of Sport, is responsible for sports development in the Department of Youth.

A communiqué from Holly Murray, NAYS Director of International Affairs indicated that the event was designed to bring together persons from the Ministries of Education and Sport in the Caribbean to discuss pertinent issues relating to physical activity and sports for young people.

Data regarding the percentage of children participating in athletic activities, sports preparation and plans to increase participation of young people in sports will be reviewed.

The youth officer said he was anxious to interact with his Caribbean colleagues. This is a chance for me to get to understand what is happening in the other countries, Connor said. He added that he will closely examine the funding assistance programmes of NAYS to ensure the Federation taps every available resource to offer greater opportunities to athletes and aid sports development.

According to the official homepage, the National Alliance for Youth Sports is America's leading advocate for positive and safe sports and activities for children. The non-profit organization offers programs and services for everyone involved in youth sports experiences, including professional administrators, volunteer administrators, volunteer coaches, officials, parents and young athletes.

The goal of the National Alliance for Youth Sports is to make sports and associated activities safe and positive by providing programs and services that add value to youth sports. It was established in 1983.
