BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ANOTHER firearm is off the streets of the Federation following a joint operation, which resulted in a young man from Ponds Pasture, Newtown being remanded at Her Majesty’s Prison.

According to Police Press and Public Information Officer (PIO) Sergeant Stephen Hector, during a joint operation at about 5:00 a.m. on Saturday (June 23), a group of young boys were searched for controlled drugs in the vicinity of the Ponds Pasture playfield.

Hector informed that among the group was one Kenville Finch of Ponds Pasture who, when searched, was found to be in possession of a .25 Calibre Titan Automatic Pistol with seven matching rounds of ammunition.

He also informed that the firearm and ammunition were taken into police custody and Finch was arrested and formally charged on Monday (June 25).

“These joint operations that are being executed are strategies employed to ensure the safety and security for all in the Federation and do reflect the coordinated efforts of all law enforcement officials of the need to ensure that our streets are returned.

“As we continue to unite in our efforts to pursue strategies geared towards the removal of firearms, ammunition and controlled drugs off of the streets, we urge the general public to assist the joint forces of St. Kitts and Nevis in keeping our streets safe,” Hector said.

The PIO has reiterated the call for all law-abiding citizens to report any crime or suspected criminal activity, if seen, to the nearest police station or they could call the Police Anonymous Hotline at 707.

“Together we as law enforcement officials and the general public can work as one to decrease criminal activities, thus ensuring a safer environment for all,” Hector suggested.
