BASSETERRE St. Kitts, June 28th 2012 - Approximately two months after the resumption from the Christmas break the SKELEC metering team has continued its successful drive of auditing meters. The areas covered were St. Paul’s, Newton Ground, South East Peninsula, Frigate Bay and Conaree. There are presently four (4) meter audit teams that check the status of meters and verify the account information.
One of the deciding factors that prompted SKELEC to undertake this venture was the desire to improve its billing structure.
Making sure that consumers are billed correctly and on-time is extremely important to ensure reliable service. SKELEC is also opening other avenues for customers' convenience such as online billing and payment facilities.
Beginning Tuesday June 26, 2012, the SKELEC meter audit continues into new territory, ranging from Basseterre to Bayfords, Bird Rock, Buckley's and Taylor’s.
Team members are hoping for continued assistance from the public to speed up the process. It would be greatly appreciated if consumers would provide easy access to their meters, have their bills handy and also be able to show proof of ownership and/or rent of the premises. The average length of an interview is 5 minutes.
The teams have been very encouraged by the assistance they have received in all areas and hope that the rest of the process proceeds smoothly.
