BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A local musician will be entertaining inmates of Her Majesty’s Prison [HMP] with his trumpet for the next 10 years, as punishment for sexually abusing a minor.

Burnell Hobson, popularly known as ‘Blues’, was yesterday convicted of a sexual offence and sentenced to serve a 10-year jail term at HMP.

Blues, who had appeared before the Basseterre High Court on several occasions to have his case heard, was finally given a hearing on Monday to answer to a charge of one count of Indecent Assault.

According to information reaching SKNVibes, Blues was charged for indecently assaulting a 10-year-old girl on October 26, 2007.

Following a two-day trial, members of the jury retired for deliberations and, after approximately one hour, returned and informed the court that they unanimously found the accused guilty as charged.

Presiding Judge, Justice Francis Belle sentenced Blues, who is believed to be in his 40s, to 10 years imprisonment. His case was the last to be tried at the May 2008 Criminal Assizes, which concluded today.   ~~Adz:Right~~
