BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AMELIA BROWNE ripped the runway in top model style yesterday, July1, at the first ever Miss National Bank White Sands Swimsuit Competition held at Carambola Beach Club and emerged as the winner.
The 27-year-old Ponds Extension resident is a model with the Movado Model Agency owned by Jason Amory. She won a cash prize of EC$1000 and a bottle of champagne.
Desiree Herbert, 31, also of the Movado Model Agency placed second and won EC$700 and a bottle of champagne while third place was Larissa Gumbs,18, won EC$500 and a bottle of champagne.
Third place winner, Gumbs, is a model with the Flair Model Agency owned by Mikieda Franklin.
The other contestants were 18-year-old Chantelle Rochester, 18-year-old Mika Greaux and 19-year-old Takashee Franklin all of the Flair Model Agency.
Following a fanfare appearance of the models dressed in IREP-SKN, it was time for the models to showcase their skills individually in a white swimsuit of their choice.
The competition was hosted by former National Carnival Queen, Iantavian Queeley.
The swimsuit competition was one of the highlights of the Music Festival Cool Down event, ‘White Sands’ held at Carambola Beach Club.
A large crowd was in attendance and the majority of persons were dressed in white enjoying the water sports and the music provided by DJ Wett Dutt and Green House Band of Nevis.
The Green House Band brought the house down with their eclectic selection of songs and masterful covers with exceptional vocals by their lead singer Marquice Willett.
Their songs ranged from pop (Katy Perry) to regional soca music.
The event was planned as a cool down lime following the Sweet 16 Music Festival that ended on June 30.
The sponsors for the event were National Bank, LIME, SKNVibes, I-Rep SKN, Xpress Events, Opus and St. Kitts Music Festival.
