BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TWO persons were found guilty of robbery and assault with intent to rob; one individual is expected to be sentenced this week, while another is on trial for sexual offence.

Xavier Elliott and Junior Stevens were last Thursday (June 28) found guilty on one count each of robbery and three counts each of assault with intent to rob, all of which occurred on July 1, 2010.

On the first charge, the two were said to have stolen a number of items including a driver’s license, a cell phone and pendant all to the total value of EC$2 468.20 belonging to Errol Finch; while on the latter charges of assault and intent to rob, the offences were committed on Neresha Francis, Lorna Wilson and Kieb Armstrong.

The men's trial began last Monday (June 25) with Director of Public Prosecutions, Paulina Hendrickson leading the prosecution team while Elliott and Stevens were unrepresented.

Alternatively, Derrick Jeffers of Sandy Point is scheduled to be sentenced this coming Thursday (July 5), as his Social Inquiry Report (SIR) has been completed.

Jeffers was, earlier in the Assizes, convicted of raping a certain female in Basseterre on May 17, 2011.

Meanwhile, a sexual offence case began yesterday (July 2). On trial is a male who was charged with incest; the offence was said to have been committed on August 27, 2010.

Elliott and Stevens are expected to be sentenced following a Social Inquiry Report.
