Korean Ambassador Announce Scholarships For Antiguan And Barbudan Students

    ST. JOHN'S Antigua, July 5th, 2012  --  During a formal meeting held on Thursday with the Hon. Dr. Winston Baldwin Spencer, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, His Excellency Park Dong-sil, ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda for the Republic of Korea, announced that efforts will be made to obtain scholarships for young Antiguans and Barbudans to obtain tertiary level education in his country.

     


    Additionally, Ambassador Park Dong-sil indicated that future short term training opportunities will be available for Antiguans and Barbudans in the areas of Agriculture, Industry and energy, education, health governance, forestry and fisheries.

    Prime Minister Spencer expressed his gratitude for the offers made by the Korean Ambassador and stressed that Antigua and Barbuda recognizes the importance of cooperation between the two countries and cherishes the bilateral relationship which exists, while exploring other ways at deepening the bilateral ties.

    Prime Minister Spencer also expressed delight in the formal appointment of the Chairman of the Medical Counsel, Dr. Eumel Samuel as the new Honorary Consul for the Republic of Korea in Antigua and Barbuda. 


    Ambassador Park Don-sil also took the opportunity to extend an invitation to Prime Minister to attend the 2nd High-Level Forum on Korea-Caribbean Partnership to be held in Seoul on July 31st 2012.

    The forum main objectives will be to seek practical and productive ways for increasing cooperation between Korea and the Caribbean states, and to share knowledge and experience in various areas ranging from e-Government, Marine Environment Management to New and Renewable Energy. 

    Antigua and Barbuda is currently participating in Expo 2012 in Yeosu, Korea under the theme “ Living Ocean and Coast, diversity of resources and sustainable activities”.
