Althea Scatlife School Grounds to be Landscaped

~~Adz:Left~~Roadtown Tortola: Friday, 1 August - The second phase of the project to upgrade the Althea Scatliffe Pre-Primary School grounds will begin soon, following the signing of an $88,750 contract to landscape the grounds.

Government this week entered into a petty contract with Ground Works BVI to supply and plant 52,500 square feet of grass sod on the warm-up track.

The scope of works also includes the supply and installation of 50 ornamental plants and 13 mature palms around the southern perimeter facing the main road.

A temporary irrigation system will also be installed as part of the project and under the terms of the contract, BVI Ground Works will provide three months of maintenance to irrigate, fertilise and maintain the installation.

The upgrading of the school grounds began in July with the creation of a level surface, upon which the grass will now be planted.

Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office Mrs. Rosalie Adams said “it is anticipated that by the time school re-opens, the grass and ornamental plants will already be growing thus creating a better environment for the children.” She added that “Government is committed to ensuring the health and safety of school children is adequately maintained.”

The Premier’s Office will supervise the project which commences on August 18th with an expected completion date by September 1st.
