BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IT just goes to show that when you set a goal and truly work towards it, no matter how long it takes, eventually you will achieve it.
This analogy was proven true when Milicent Periera was announced winner of Kajola Kristada's May 2012 Employee of the Month.
The Line Operator said that she believes that she deserved this award as she has been working towards it for a long time.
"I think that I deserved to win. I have always been working towards winning the Employee of the Month and I am very excited that I finally won."
The company’s Employee of the Month process of selection is based on a number of categories including efficiency, attendance, quality, safety, friendliness, and versatility.
Periera told SKNVibes that she has been mindful of, among others, her production level at work and her attendance, and that she has been excellent in her performance but was always outnumbered by another.
"I have been making sure that I reach to work on time, never absent and I always meet my target but someone else always beats me. I finally won this time and I am happy."
And this is not her first time winning!
Periera said that is her second time on the wall of outstanding performance as she had won the Employee of the Month certificate some time ago but has always been making improvements and working towards winning another.
When asked to describe Periera's performance, her Supervisor, Beulah Sutton-Belle, confidently said "Excellent".
"She goes over and above the call of duty; we can call on her at any time and she will be there. She always rises to the challenge," Sutton-Belle explained.
The Supervisor said that Periera is one that is dedicated to her job and is one that can always be depended on.
In a previous interview with SKNVibes, Human Resource Manager, Malvie James, said the monthly awards started four years ago and the idea was initiated to show the employees that their hard work and efforts were appreciated.
She said that the General Manager, José Rosa, is instrumental in making sure that the employees are recognised and duly awarded.
The Line Operator said that her hard work does not stop here as she intends to continue until she wins another award and even more thereafter.
