BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – One of the Federation’s most decorated police officers, Superintendent Ian Queeley left the federation earlier this week to take up the position of Director of Plans, Intelligence and Law Enforcement with the Regional Security System.

Supt. Queeley joined the Royal St. Christopher-Nevis Police Force in 1984 and after demonstrating outstanding leadership skills and unfettered dedication to his profession, he steadily moved up the ranks.
From his humble beginnings as a Constable, Queeley was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 1993, Sergeant in 1996, Inspector in 2000 and then on to Superintendent post in 2006.

The seasoned officer who has contributed almost twenty- five (25) years of sterling service to the federation’s Police Force held several command positions throughout his career - Acting Commander Officer at the Anti-narcotics Unit (Drug Squad), Chief Instructor at the Police Training School, Force Personnel Officer and Division Commander of St. Christopher Districts ‘A’ and ‘B’.

Queeley’s impressive academic background boasts degrees in various disciplines from regional and international tertiary institutions including Post-Graduate diplomas in Security Administration- UWI, Criminal Justice – University of Virginia and Police Management – Leicester University. In addition he also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of the West Indies.

He is also a graduate of the Bramshill Police Staff College, UK and the US-based Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy, both considered to be two of the leading institutions of learning for law enforcement officers.

The Supt. specialized in Financial Investigations (Money Laundering), Narcotics (Intelligence Gathering and Surveillance) and Explosives. His extensive training record also shows that he received instruction in many law enforcement related fields in Japan, the US, England, Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Bahamas and his native St. Kitts.     ~~Adz:Right~~

Upon assumption of his duties at the RSS’ Central Liaison Office in Barbados, Queeley was ranked Assistant Commissioner of Police and joins the two other Directors and the Regional Security Co-coordinator to form the High Command of the RSS/CLO. His term as DPILE will run for two years in the first instance and may be extended as required.

Speaking exclusively to SKNVibes.com Queeley revealed that although he will miss his native country, family, friends and colleagues, he welcomed the challenges that came with his copious responsibilities at the RSS.

“My responsibilities here at the RSS are wide and varied but I will take the same approach I have always taken in my career; that is to do the best possible job to maintain Law and Order, even though I now have to do that on a regional scale. I will definitely miss St. Kitts during my sojourn however I will use the opportunity to further develop my management talent and build capacity to add value to the Police Force and the country on a whole, upon my return. Through all this I know I have the support of my family and friends back home,” he said.

“I want to encourage my colleagues back home to continue to work hard and give of their best under the difficult and trying circumstances that they face now and will inevitably face in the future. Most of all, I encourage them to support the Commissioner and his senior management team.”

Queeley’s children, family, friends and the High Command of the Police Force extended best wishes to the senior officer as he embarked on another leg of his professional journey.
