BRADES, Montserrat (July 10, 2012) – Residents on Montserrat are being asked to encourage family and friends in the Diaspora to complete the investment survey which aims to gather information on potential investors for the island.
The survey is part of a project initiated by the Government of Montserrat as an initial step in assessing and tapping the island’s Diaspora as a source of investment for the development of the new town and port in Little Bay and Carr’s Bay.
Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Premier, Beverley Mendes said the survey results will help the government with development of its plans and cater more effectively to the Diaspora.
The project is being led by Leon Isaacs, head of Developing Markets Associates Ltd (DMA) with the assistance of Research Manager and Analyst at DMA, Nana Yaa Boakye-Adjei. DMA specializes in inward investment programmes.
According to Boakye-Adjei, there is both a long and short survey which can be taken online. She added that those who take the time to answer are eligible to win two return tickets on SVG AIR from Antigua to Montserrat.The winner of the tickets will be announced at a Diaspora event to be held at the end of the project.
Several group meetings in the UK, US and Canada will be held in the coming weeks. The islands of Antigua & Barbuda and Anguilla have been identified as the two Caribbean nations where focus groups will be held.
The survey is principally aimed at investment profiles and behaviours, but questions will explore interest in returning to live or simply to visit and/or offering philanthropic services to Montserrat. A combination of on-line and in person surveys will be used to capture the widest possible audience.
