BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SPRINTER Tamika Williams has given herself the title 'Madam Speedy' to boost her confidence in winning  a medal at the London Olympics and making her homeland proud.

The 22-year-old will be running the 100 and 200 metre races at the upcoming Olympic Games and is quite confident in her abilities to excel.

"I've been having a good season so far and aim to keep on running," Williams was quoted as saying by Xinhua after a meet in Madrid.

Williams ran third in the 200 metres on a blustery and hard track, but after previously winning a 100-metre race in Russia she was optimistic about her chances in London.

"My hope at the Olympics is to make it to the finals, and if I can get there then what happens will happen, because anything is possible," she said to a media house in Spain.

So optimistic about her speed, Williams has crafted the word into her Twitter name 'Madam Speedy'.

"I came up with the name. I'm speedy and I'm a madam, so I put them together and came up with 'Madam Speedy'," she joked.

Although dropping long jump from her itinerary, Williams will have two events to win a medal in London.

"I am doing the 100 and 200 metres. I am finished with the long jump and I am no longer doing it," she said.

Williams not only wishes the best for herself, but for her fellow sprinters as well - Delwayne Delaney, Jason Roberts, Antoine Adams, Brijesh Lawrence, and Kim Collins - who will be partaking in the 4x100 relay.

"We will have a men's 4x100 team, which I am looking forward to seeing in the finals in London and I hope they can make it to the podium," she said.

The London 2012 Olympic Games is scheduled for July 27 to August 13.
