PM says visit to Dubai “will stimulate sufficient interest in future investment”

    LONDON, ENGLAND, JULY 14TH 2012 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas says his visit to Dubai in seeking investment opportunities for the people of the twin-island federation has been productive.

     

    Apart from the official launch of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts at a ceremony attended by nearly 500 people, the Prime Minister during a stopover in London on his way home from Dubai said extensive discussions were also held with members of the business community from different sectors in the United Arab Emirates.

     

    Dr. Douglas is of the view that as his government seriously examines the programme for the continuing transition of the economy and pursuit of areas for the new economic development agenda beyond the transition period, “we have been able to glean sufficient insight and stimulate sufficient interest in future investment in St. Kitts and Nevis.”

     

    “I feel very confident that we are on the right path for our continued development,” said Prime Minister Douglas in an interview with the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM).

     

    “This is critically needed now more than any other time as we seek opportunities to stimulate growth in the economy and provide opportunities for employment for our people, especially our young people and continue to improve the quality of life of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Prime Minister.

     

    He is further of the view that the road is now clear for St. Kitts and Nevis to move forward with confidence.

     

    During the week Prime Minister Douglas met with business persons from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Afghanistan and Iraq involved in manufacturing, hotel construction, agriculture, financing and tourism.

     

    Prime Minister Douglas in inviting them to do business in St. Kitts and Nevis urged the officials of the need to partner with local businessmen and women and give the people of the twin-island federation an opportunity to to develop and improve their quality of life.
