Acting Director of Culture Mrs. Brenda Lettsome-Tye during a press conference to unveil the designs on July 11 recapped the process undertaken by the Ministry to arrive at the resubmission of the final two options.

She said, “We are happy to present the designs created by our top two designers Mrs. Florence Philips and Ms. Kristin Frazer,” adding “We must commend these ladies for willingly coming together and working tirelessly into the wee hours of the mornings many days in order to create the designs seen here today.”

Mrs. Eileene L. Parsons, chair of the ad-hoc committee on Territorial Song and Dress expressed her delight with the new selections as it was the first time they were revealed to her as well.

The Territorial Song and Dress competition was launched in February and ran until April 13. It saw a total of 24 submissions for the Territorial Song Competition and nine submissions for the Territorial Dress Competition.

Subsequent to the public input following the event, the designers were asked to collaborate and produce two new designs that will be presented to the House of Assembly for debate and consideration.
