BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A sexual offence case is currently taking place where a man is answering to a charge of indecent assault which is said to have been committed against a minor.

The case, which began this morning (July 16), is being presided over by His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas at the Basseterre High Court.

According to the facts of the case, the man, during the period January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009 indecently assaulted a minor.

The man is also facing a second charge of indecent assault against the said minor which was allegedly committed on February 6, 2010 in Basseterre.

The Prosecution team is lead by Junior Counsel Garth Wilkin who would be calling the victim to testify to help prove its case.

After the prosecution rested its case, the accused, who is unrepresented, would have the opportunity to give evidence or call witnesses to testify on his behalf.

If convicted, the man could face up to 10 years imprisonment.
