BB rumours false, road fatality not local

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Blackberry Messenger photo that has been circulating throughout yesterday (July 16) indicating that a road fatality had taken place on the Western end of St. Kitts has proven to be false.

Yesterday, many persons received a photo of a blood-soaked female child lying on the side of a road, face up, apparently dead.

The information arising from this indicated that the child was the victim of a hit-and-run incident that took place in Newton Ground, St. Kitts.

SKNVibes made investigations into this and, having spoken with Head of Traffic Department Inspector Cromwell Henry, learnt that while the incident may be true it did not occur within the twin island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

"No accident was reported to the police and no injury was reported to any of the hospitals. This incident is not a local one. It did not occur here [St. Kitts-Nevis]," Henry said.

The number of road fatalities in the Federation for the year remains at two. The first being that of Janiah Johnson who, on the evening of February 19, was involved in a two-vehicle accident along the Kim Collins Highway.

The second was that of Tyrone Fyfield, who was also involved in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 29 at the junction of Wellington Road and Florence Nightingale Lane, New Pond Site.
