More Partners join Cable & Wireless in Conaree Beautification Project

~~Adz:Left~~Basseterre; St. Kitts - Cable & Wireless has started the proverbial spark in whose glow a number of agencies/corporations have warmed.  Since announcing the project to beautify the community of Conaree as one of its Independence gifts to the nation, the company has received expressions of interest and co-operation from a number of other entities.

The Ministry of Environment through its Parks and Beaches Unit was the first to agree to an arrangement where its resources would assist with clearing of the trees and weeds in the area.  Already part of its regular cleaning schedule, the Unit did commit to making its team available to extend the services to a number of new areas as part of its contribution.

Meanwhile, corporate conglomerate, TDC has reached out to Cable & Wireless offering to partner on the beautification of Conaree.  Said its Chairman, Mr. Michael Morton, “When we heard that Cable & Wireless was beautifying the community of Conaree we thought that this was a project that we would like to join in and help to raise the profile of this community.”  He gave a commitment to provide assistance with manpower, heavy equipment and paint supplies, stating specifically an interest in repainting the community’s bus stand.  “Ultimately, I would like to see our staff out and about and helping with the physical work as we partner with Cable & Wireless to transform this community,” he added.

With the anticipated volume of household bulky items, residents at the town hall meeting had suggested deploying some dumpsters around the community.  The disposal of these items would be done all day Saturday 9th August from 8am with the kind assistance of Admiral Enterprises.  Manager of Admiral Enterprises, Mr. Harrington Bristol said he was pleased to assist in this community event and willingly pledged his collection service free of cost.

Summing up the spirited co-operation of these agencies and businesses, Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless, Patricia Walters, said she was pleasantly surprised of the goodwill that this effort has triggered and thanked all of the partners.  “The residents of Conaree would likely remember this experience for a long time to come.  It just goes to show where there’s a spirit of co-operation anything is possible, and the timing could not have been better as we celebrate this milestone anniversary of Independence,” she concluded.

Conaree and Cox were the two communities which Cable & Wireless recently selected from a number of submissions for a make over, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of independence.
