BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – KEITH ‘KAYAMBA’ GUMBS continues to make the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as well as his teammates of Sriwijaya Football Club proud when it was announced recently that he had won the award for Best Player in the 2011-2012 Indonesia Super League.

Sriwijaya FC won the season when they whipped Persela Lamongan 3-0 in the finals at Jaka Baring Stadium, Palembang on June 20.

This is the second trophy the team has won in the Indonesian Super League since 2007.

Rumours were circulating about the 39-year-old player’s possible retirement, but he however dispelled it, as stated in Indonesia News that he never spoke of such plans.

“I do not want to talk about retirement. I never said anything about the matter to the people,” he stated.

Indonesia News also stated that Gumbs’ ability was still up to par as he scored 22 goals in 31 games and led his team to win the season.

Coach of Sriwijava FC, Kas Hartadi, said that Kayamba is viable, still strong and is in good condition.

In terms of what is next for the player, Gumbs told SKNVibes that he wants to enjoy his holiday first before thinking about plans for the next season.

“I have some offers already to play and coach other teams here as well. I’m gonna weigh up all options and choose what I think would be best for me and family,” he said.
