BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TRAFFIC charges have been preferred against the east-line omnibus driver who was involved in an accident that saw a young child being injured and hospitalised.

Inspector Cromwell Henry – Head of the Traffic Department – informed this publication that Tyrone ‘Giddy’ Nisbett of Christchurch was on Monday, July 9, 2012 formally arrested and charged with “dangerous driving”.

The charge arose from a June 29 incident where – also according the Traffic Department – Jayden James of Saddlers was making an attempt to cross the island main road in the vicinity of the Saddlers Primary School from the mountain side to the seaside when a collision occurred.

The collision - which transpired shortly before 2:30 p.m. - was reportedly between him and a motor omnibus (HA271) operated by Nisbett.

Initial reports suggested that Jayden sustained cuts and bruises; however, further information gathered by this publication indicates that up to one week ago he was still warded at the Joseph N. France General Hospital.

Inspector Henry said that Nisbett was subsequently released on bail and is scheduled to make an appearance before the Magistrate’s Court to answer to his bail.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
