Second Issue of Water and Shortage Newsletter Available

Roadtown; Tortola: Friday, August 8 – The second edition of the Water and Sewerage quarterly newsletter, the Pipeline is now available and has been distributed throughout the Territory.

Director of the Water and Sewerage Department Mr. Julian Willock said the newsletter is one of the tools used to keep the public informed of the department’s operations, projects and programmes.

Mr. Willock added that highlights of this issue of the newsletter include the department’s achievements for the past three years, its leak detection programme and the recently held Supplier’s Seminar hosted by the Caribbean Basin Water Management Programme (CBWMP) and suppliers doing business in the region.

This issue of the newsletter also includes an outline of the department’s role in the Government’s Public Service Reform and the department’s involvement in the first ever student apprentice program.  Advice on what to do to preserve water during a hurricane is also included in this issue of the newsletter.

Persons interested in obtaining a copy of the Pipeline can pick up a copy at any port of entry on Tortola, the Government’s Administration Complex on all sister islands, and at the department’s main office in Baugher’s Bay.

The Water and Sewerage Department was established in 1980 under the Ministry of Communications and Works to provide the people of the Territory with a continuous supply of potable water.  The department has seven divisions; Planning and Projects, Operations and Maintenance, Accounts, Human Resources, Sewerage Operations and Development, Public Relations and Outreach, and the Director’s Office/Administration.  ~~Adz:Right~~
