BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TAIWAN’S AMBASSADOR to St. Kitts and Nevis His Excellency Rong-Chuan Wu today visited the children who are learning the art of self defence at the Taekwondo Camp held at the Washington Archibald High School.

Ambassador Wu encouraged the children to continue to participate in such positive activities and also spoke on the importance of taking their training and using it to boost their self-esteem.

He told them that before he was appointed Ambassador he was a police officer and has a black belt in Judo.

The Taekwondo Camp is hosted and organised by Lincoln David and Lindon David, who are both black belts. According to Lincoln, this is the second year for the camp and he hopes that it would continue for a long time.

Lincoln said one of the reasons they are encouraging young person’s to join the Camp is for them to master the techniques and teach others.

He added that the Camp is also geared to help the communities and give the children something to do.

“Taekwondo not only teaches how to fight but how to use self defence, and it is also good for your health,” he said.

Lincoln informed that they are also preparing some of the children for an open Taekwondo Championship to which they were invited.

The tournament is scheduled for September in Aruba.

SKNVibes spoke with a few of the children at the Camp who said they were very excited about being a part of it and wish to continue for a long time, as it teaches them discipline.

    Taekwondo’
s popularity has resulted in the varied evolution of the martial art into several domains.

As with many other arts, it combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise, meditation and philosophy. Taekwondo is also used by the South Korean military as part of its training.  ~~Adz:Right~~
