Search for Scotia Bank robbers continues

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are continuing their search for the two armed men who yesterday (July 20) robbed the Scotia Bank, Bird Rock Branch in St. Kitts of an undisclosed sum of money.

The incident occurred at about 11:35 a.m., and on arrival some 15 minutes later, SKNVibes had observed the presence of a few police officers but the crime scene was not being processed at the time.

An ambulance arrived shortly after and members of the Emergency Medical Services were seen attending to a traumatised female who was said to be a customer.

Acting Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime, Ian Queeley told the media that they were unable to state the amount of money that was stolen at the time.

He however noted that Crime Scene Technicians were processing the scene and that other detectives had responded to various areas.

“We’re utilising all the sources at our disposal to capture the perpetrators of this crime. As we stand now, that’s about all the information we can give and that no one was injured in the robbery,” he said.

The police had also blocked off a track between TDC and Builders Paradise as well as a section of the area facing RAMS Supermarket, where it was believed that the robbers had made their escape.

Prego, the newest K-9 to join the force, and another dog were also on the scene and were taken to the escape route of the robbers by their handlers for a possible lead to the suspects.
