BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A traffic accident which occurred last evening (July 20) saw no serious injuries being sustained by the drivers or passengers in the vehicles.

The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. on Wellington Road, Basseterre and involved two motor vehicles - P4405 driven by Roosevelt Nicholls of Taylor's Range and PA1037 driven by Denise Small of Frigate Bay.

According to Sergeant Calvin Amory of the Traffic Department, P4405 was exiting the stop on Leonard Dickenson Street to cross over Wellington Road onto Edwards Lane when it collided with PA1037 which was travelling East along Wellington Road - from Bakers Corner going towards the airport area.

SGT Amory explained that PA1037 had three passengers, two of whom were children, and that there were complaints of pain.

"Three persons complained of pain and they were taken to the JNF General Hospital where they were treated and discharged. No serious injuries were reported," he said.

Nicholls, he explained, did not suffer any injury or complained of pain.

The Traffic Department is encouraging persons to exercise caution when exiting stops and crossing junctions.

"We are advising persons that whenever you are exiting a junction or moving from a stop to please make sure that it is clear before doing so. Try not to take chances by looking at the speed of the other vehicle because the vehicle may be traveling faster than estimated."
