                                                          20 Primary School Teachers to Commence Bachelor Programme

    ~~Adz:Right~~ROADTOWN, Tortola- Twenty primary school teachers will commence in September a two-year programme that would lead to a Bachelor of Education Degree.

     

    This initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Education, H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) and the University of the West Indies.  The programme, which aims to maintain a cadre of trained teachers in schools, will be launched on Tuesday, August 19 at the HLSCC Auditorium at 10:00 a.m.

     

    Premier, Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, Minister of Education and Culture Honourable Andrew Fahie and Vice President of HLSCC Dr. Karl Dawson will deliver remarks. Chairman, HLSCC Board of Governors Dr. Charles Wheatley and Vice Chancellor and Principal, UWI Open Campus Professor Hazel Simmonds-McDonald will also be in attendance and will deliver remarks.

     

    The cohort of teachers chose one of the following five recommended areas of studies Special Education, English/Literacy, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science.

     

    The Ministry’s vision is to develop the mental, physical, social and spiritual being of every individual whom the Ministry serves so that they become responsible and productive in an increasingly vibrant and technological Virgin Islands.
