Police find two firearms during initial investigation
CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – QUICK reaction and a good intelligence network by officers of the Nevis Division have resulted in the apprehension of two suspects who are currently assisting police with their investigation into a double robbery that occurred on Saturday night (July 21) in Nevis.
According to a police press release, the two persons are suspects in the robbery of two taxi drivers from whom a sum of money was taken.
They were taken into “police custody assisting with the investigation. During the initial investigation two firearms with ammunition were recovered”.
On Saturday, at approximately 11:10 p.m., this publication received a report that two taxi drivers contracted by the Four Seasons Resort to transport guests were robbed of over US$700.
The report stated the taxi drivers, Dale Pemberton and Vernal McDonald, were robbed of over US$300 and US$400 respectively in the vicinity of Montpelier Plantation Inn.
It also stated that at approximately 7:00 p.m., the two taxi drivers had picked up 12 Four Seasons’ guests from that Resort to transport them to Montpelier Plantation Inn to have dinner.
However, at about 10:00 p.m., while waiting for the guests to return, two masked men held the drivers at gunpoint and relieved them of their money.
The drivers were unharmed and they reported the robbery at the Gingerland Police Station.
