BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE proverbial blanket of calm that rested over the Federation since Monday, July 13, 2008 was torn to shreds early this morning when news circulated that a young male of Parsons Village was shot to death.
Dead is 23-year-old Delvis Romney, alias ‘Tubal’, who SKNVibes understands was killed while attending a shindig held at a bar in Lynches on Sunday night.
Though details are still sketchy, SKNVibes was told that while the event was in progress, Romney was approached by an armed assailant and was on the receiving end of one or more bullets to the chest area at about 12:05 this morning.
This media house also understands that an individual identified as Jah Flicks, the owner of the bar at which the shooting took place, transported the wounded man to Pogson Hospital.
The wounded man was then transferred to an ambulance of the Emergency Medical Services and taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Kandi Romney, sister of the deceased, told SKNVibes that she last saw her brother on

Sunday night just before he left the house, which they shared, bound for the party. She recounted the moments during which she was told of the unfortunate incident.
“I was inside when my cousin called me on my phone and told me that my brother just got shot and it doesn’t look like he is going to make it. It was about a couple of minutes after 12. I asked him if he is sure and he said yes.
I asked him where on his body he was shot and he told me on his left side, gone straight to his heart. I kept asking him if he is sure that is was the left side and he said yes it is that side.
And just how he fell down and dropped his head, he said that was it. I didn’t get a chance to see him before he died. On my way to the hospital I got a call saying that he died so I turned back.”

Romney's sister, Kandi says her brother is not one to get involved in confusion and notes that she misses her brother |
The grieving sibling said she never knew her brother to have been involved in any confusion.
“He and the fellow ain’t in any gang-related business or anything, but, from what I heard, they said the fellow was in his face trying to create an argument and he wasn’t taking him on and a next fellow came and asked, ‘wah really going on?’ The same fellow who shot my brother hit the fellow with the gun and then shot my brother. My brother doesn’t trouble people.”
Describing him as a “family-oriented man”, Kandi said she would miss her brother dearly and noted that of all her siblings, she was closest to him.
“Him and I were very close. Out of all of them, he is the closest one to me and he helps me do what I have to do. Now he is gone I don’t have anyone to help me.”

held, said, under condition of anonymity, he was told that a man was shot and many people were seen leaving the area.
“When I went across the road and looked into the bar I saw a young man was lying on the ground and bleeding from a wound on the left side of his chest.
The owner of the bar took him away with his vehicle and the police were summoned. This happened about 12:05 and the police arrived about 20 minutes after.”
The man pointed out that a police vehicle from St. Paul’s Police Station arrived at the scene but did not stop to investigate. “However,” he added, “two policemen came from Taba and they went into the bar. Shortly after some soldiers and more police officers came and I believe they were searching the area for evidence.” ~~Adz:Left~~
