Dr Denzil Douglas Prime Minister of St. Kitts & Nevis, Trevor Braithwaite Deputy Governor of Eastern Caribbean Central Bank prior to cutting of ribbon

Basseterre, St. Kitts – YESTERDAY’S opening of RBTT Caribbean (St. Kitts) Ltd was described as “a further signal of the confidence that we (RBTT) have in the economy and the business community here [in St. Kitts]” by Robert Desilva, Head of the Eastern Caribbean Region for the RBTT chain of banks.

The nation’s Prime Minister Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas performed the honour of cutting the ribbon in the presence of Janet Harris, Chief Financial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, and Michael Morton the Chairman of TDC and other esteemed attendees. Following the proceedings customers and curious individuals were treated to light refreshments as they made enquiries about available services.

Desilva expressed confidence in the eight staff members employed to handle the operations of RBTT’s newest subdivision.

“As you would know it is a Business Banking Centre, so the intent is to primarily cater to the business community; small, medium and large businesses and mortgage businesses etcetera. However, an individual wanting to start a bank account here, or seeking a loan for study, travel, vehicle or some other purpose would be welcome,” Desilva said.

“There are currently RBTT banks in five of the islands in the Eastern Caribbean; Grenada, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Antigua, Nevis and now we’ve added St. Kitts to the RBTT family,” he added.

The Country Manager, Corliss Charles-Sutton also spoke to SKNVibes.com and revealed that the banks policies were compliant with the money-laundering laws of St. Kitts & Nevis and spoke assuredly about the capabilities of her staff to detect and deal with situations of a dubious nature.

“The services we offer are really quite similar to those of other commercial banks, however we want the difference to be in the treatment of our customers and the relationships we build with them as we provide them with top-class services,” Charles-Sutton said.

In expressing her expectations for the branch she explained, “What I want is for persons to be able to know up-front what the requirements are to get a loan when they come to RBTT Caribbean (St. Kitts) Ltd; they should not have to go through a whole application process only to be told no.”

RBTT Caribbean (St. Kitts) Ltd will be operating during normal business hours 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. Additionally, ATM (Automated Teller Machine) services will soon be available at the St. Kitts operation.
