Launch of St. Kitts Visitor Channel

~~Adz:Left~~Basseterre August 12th 2008 - St. Kitts is going to get its own television channel - and its main objective will be to provide visitors to St Kitts with an entertaining mix of information about things they can see and do on the island.

The channel is a joint venture between the St. Kitts and Nevis Hotel and Tourism Association and Brisbane Productions. Executives from the highly successful St. Lucia are helping with the project in a consulting capacity.

The St. Kitts Visitor Channel is scheduled to go on the air at the end of September. At the moment it's expected it will be carried on Channel 70, which will be part of the basic cable package and all the premium packages. This means it will be available in all hotels and private residences.

The channel will offer a smorgasbord of entertaining, up-to-the-minute information on just about everything the island has to offer, including golf, scuba diving, international and local cricket and soccer, snorkeling, dining out, eco-tourism, beaches, scenery, rain forest tours, music, culture, catamaran outings, night life and world-class attractions such as Brimstone Hill and Romney Manor.

The channel will be on the air 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and programming will be rotated to keep the mix as fresh and vibrant as possible.

Michael Head, manager of the HTA, sees the Visitor Channel as another major step for St. Kitts' vital tourism industry. "Many of our competitors in the Caribbean tourism industry already offer this sort of channel, and it's proved highly successful with both visitors and advertisers," says Head. "We're really excited about the programming. St. Kitts has so much to offer, and we want to show visitors all the things available to them as soon as they turn on the television in their hotel room.

"We couldn't be more eager to see the channel come to life."
