    Body discovered in parking lot

     


    ~~Adz:Left~~St. Thomas, USVI – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly man whose body was discovered in the Market Square parking area on Sunday, August 10th.

     

    Just after 7 a.m. that morning, police received a call about an unresponsive man lying in the parking lot of El Encanto Bar. They responded to find the man lying face up in the parking lot. The medical examiner pronounced him dead on the scene.  

     

    Although police have identified the deceased, they have not revealed his name or known address pending notification of next of kin. They have disclosed however that he was 71 years old.

     

    Melody Rames, VI Police Department spokeswoman, informed that investigations were being conducted to determine if foul play was involved in the man’s death. She declined to comment on whether there were any visible signs of trauma on the body at the time it was discovered.

     

    Rames did disclose that witnesses were being questioned to establish the sequence of events leading to the man’s demise and that the medical examiner is performing an autopsy to uncover the cause of death.
