CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – QUICK reaction to criminal reports by officers of the Nevis Division of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continues to be the order of the day, as within hours on receipt of an alleged rape report police had nabbed the suspect.
A release from the Police Press and Public Relations Office states that last night (July 26) a report of rape was made by a female resident on Nevis and police on that island immediately launched an intense manhunt for the suspect.
“The suspect was apprehended within hours of the initial report, still wearing the clothing described by the victim and in possession of the items taken from the scene,” the release reads.
It also states that investigations into this incident are being conducted by the Special Victims Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department. This Unit was created specifically to investigate crimes against women and children.
“Police Commissioner C.G. Walwyn has commended the Nevis Division for their quick apprehension of the suspect and expresses his deep regret to the victim and her family,” the release added.
