    ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, July 27th, 2012  -- The newsletter, found online at – In highlighting the success stories of the British Virgin Islands’ financial services industry and the Territory’s role in the global economy, the BVI International Finance Centre recently launched its first online newsletter, “BVI Finance”.

     

    www.bviifc.gov.vg, features articles, legislative updates, industry news and upcoming events. Highlights from the BVI Financial Services Commission are also included.
     
    In this issue’s welcome message, Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, stated: “Our aim is to showcase how the BVI is playing a full role in the global economy, and through a commitment to high standards, offering a sophisticated array of quality products and services in financial management for the discerning clientele.”
     
    Premier Smith noted the BVI’s strength is found in its leadership in meeting the needs of international business, adding, “The BVI has a proud tradition of providing a competitive business environment, while still meeting international best practice standards of regulation and good governance.”
     
    The Honourable Premier stated that this month’s issue of BVI Finance highlights the strong qualities of the BVI financial services industry, including award-winning international service firms, exemplary regulatory standards, well-established and successful business models.
     
    To that end, he congratulated local law firms Ogier, Harneys, and Maples & Calder for receiving top honours in the Offshore Law Firm Awards and recognised Mossack Fonseca, Blenheim Trust (BVI) Ltd and Morgan & Morgan for 25 years in the BVI.
     
    He stated, “We firmly believe in celebrating the milestones and accomplishments of the BVI industry.”
     
    The Premier also noted that the BVI Financial Services Commission is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary. Additionally, he commended Ernst & Young for providing scholarships to BVI students and extended kudos to Harneys for their recent publishing of the BVI’s first commercial law book.
     
    Premier Smith concluded by encouraging readers to continue to support BVI Finance.
     
    The launch of the new publication is in line with the mission of the Government of the Virgin Islands to enhance and solidify the Territory’s reputation as a top jurisdiction.
