BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER taking part in the prestigious Olympic Games 2012 opening ceremony yesterday, (July 27), and marching with pride with her fellow athletes for the historic event, Tameka Williams’ dreams have been shattered.

Williams a.k.a. ‘Madam Speedy’ a 22-year-old Kittitian athlete whose athletic campaign has been outstanding so far, has been allegedly dismissed from the team and will no longer participate in the Olympic Games.

On her Facebook page posted sometime around 3:00 a.m. EST Williams in her status wrote:

“Although results from a drug test in early June came back clean I was sent home due to false accusations. It's sad to see a 22-year-olds dreams washed away by people who don't believe in me. W/ no chance of a second drug test to prove my innocence I was dismissed. SKN I am not sorry for working hard all year and I have never taken illegal substances to enhance my performance or any thereof.”

Just for 2012 alone, Williams has been setting the national records and contending with the world’s greatest athletes while registering world leading times in her respective events.

She had her eyes set on the prize for the 100 and 200 metre races and was quite confident in her abilities to excel.

In a previous interview with the press she stated: “My hope at the Olympics is to make it to the finals, and if I can get there then what happens will happen, because anything is possible.

“I've been having a good season so far and aim to keep on running," she stated.

SKNVibes will continue to follow up on this matter and is hoping for a statement from the St. Kitts-Nevis Olympic Committee.
