LIAT Announces New Arrangement with Carib Aviation

    ST. JOHNS, Antigua
-In July 2008, LIAT suspended its relationship with Carib Aviation pending the resolution of a number of operational and administrative issues.

Following extensive talks between the two carriers, it has been agreed that from 14th August 2008 the existing code share and wet-lease arrangements will be terminated but a new arrangement will be entered into, whereby LIAT will make Carib’s flights available through its reservations system.

This means that customers will be able to book Carib (“3Q) flights through the LIAT website, call centre and travel agents who are using the LIAT Travel Agents ‘portal’.

It will also be possible to book ‘through’ tickets on to LIAT services, for example, Montserrat-Antigua-Barbados, where the Montserrat-Antigua flight is performed by Carib and the Antigua-Barbados flight is performed by LIAT.

At a number of stations, LIAT will provide Carib with ground handling services.  However, Carib, which has full certification as a scheduled carrier, will be entirely responsible for its own services, delays, misconnected bags, etc.  ~~Adz:Right~~

Commenting on the new arrangements, LIAT CEO, Mark Darby, said “I believe that the new deal with Carib will offer our customers access to a range of services that LIAT is unable to provide, such as to Montserrat, but will make it clearer to the customer who is to perform their flights”.

Carib will continue to operate services to Montserrat, Dominica (Canefield), St. Lucia, Nevis, St. Kitts and Anguilla, which will all be available for sale through the LIAT website, Call Centre and Travel Agents.
