Government Urges Public to Pay Final Respects to Noel Lloyd

~~Adz:Left~~Roadtown; Tortola: Government is encouraging the general public to come out and pay final respects to our very own national hero, the late Noel Lloyd on Friday, August 15th at the Palm Grove Park. Viewing will take place from 9:00 a.m. and will be immediately followed by the funeral service 10:00 a.m.

Noel Lloyd, described by Premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE as a brave and courageous man, formed the Positive Action Movement in 1968 to spearhead local opposition to agreements that would have put have placed large parts of Road Town and Anegada beyond the reach of local people.

Mr. Lloyd was presented with the Award of Certificate and Badge of Honour last October. He died in Florida on August 3rd after a long battle with cancer. A tribute in his honour by Premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE will be aired on local radio and televisions today.

To reduce noise disruptions during the funeral, the road between the Palm Grove Park and the Mill Mall will be closed for the duration of the funeral service. Motorists are also asked to note that traffic will be diverted from the intersection near First Bank to the roundabout near Bobby’s Supermarket to facilitate the funeral procession.
