BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE STAGE is set for beauty, charm, elegance and intelligence as the 51st edition of the Miss Caribbean Jaycees Pageant will be staged tonight (August 1).

Among the 14 countries competing is the Federation’s very own National Carnival Queen (Miss-St. Kitts-Nevis) Kalia Huggins.

Huggins is presently in Antigua for the pageant where she will be competing in Best Evening Wear, Interview, Performing Talent and Swimwear.

On July 6, she captured the Best Evening Wear award at Miss Carival.

The other countries competing in Miss Jaycees are Miss BVI, Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Miss Anguilla, Miss Barbados, Miss St. Lucia, Miss Dominica, Miss Montserrat, Miss St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Miss Dominican Repulic, Miss Jamaica, Miss Guyana, Miss St. Croix and Miss Curacao.

Huggins, 23, won the National Carnival Queen Pageant in St. Kitts in December 2011 and along with the judges’ nod she also captured the Best Costume segment.

She was raised and nurtured in the spirited community of Parsons and has aspirations to pursue a career in the field of Psychology with special focus on children and teens.

She is drawn to victims of child abuse and is devoted to placing the spotlight on an issue which she believes has lurked in the shadows for far too long.

Her way of unwinding is by drawing, painting and producing music.

Dubbed ‘Queen of the Caribbean’ Iantavian ‘Tavie’ Queeley, who captured the Miss St. Kitts-Nevis crown in 2010, continues her pageantry duties as she will take her final walk as Miss Caribbean Jaycees tonight.

During her reign as National Carnival Queen, Queeley captured both the Miss Carival and Miss Jaycees crowns in 2011.
