    12,690 Ganja plants uprooted in Sandy Point

     

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continues in its quest to rid the Federation of illegal drugs, members of the law enforcement body discovered a large quantity marijuana plants growing in Sandy Point.

     

    According to a police press release, a search and eradication operation was conducted on Thursday, August 14 and 12,690 marijuana plants were found growing in several areas on Farm Mountain in Sandy Point.

     

    “The plants, which ranged in height from seedlings to 12 feet, were uprooted and destroyed by fire along with three sheds that were used to process these drugs,” the release said.  ~~Adz:Right~~

     

    It also said no one was held accountable for the find and the police would continue their programmed to rid the Federation of this illicit plant.

     

    This find takes the number of uprooted marijuana plants to 53,315 for the year.

     

    Meanwhile, police have informed that five persons were arrested and charged on Thursday, August 14.

    Collis King of East Street, Newtown was arrested and charged with the offence of assault while a Dorsett Villager, Lendon Gilbert, was arrested and charged for driving when he was not the holder of a valid driver’s licence.

     

    Robelto Glasgow of Sandy Point was arrested and charged with the offence of assault, allegedly committed on August 14, 2008 while Devon Albertine of Ottleys Village was charged with a wounding offence; an offence he is said to have committed on August 13, 2008.

     

    And another Sandy Pointer, Conrad Dore of Stadium View, was arrested and charged with the offence of larceny. The offence was allegedly committed on July 30, 2008.
