CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – A juvenile is among three persons jailed on Nevis and three others convicted and fined a total of EC$3 350 on Tuesday (July 31) for offences ranging from possession of cannabis to larceny.
A police press release states that a juvenile of Craddock Road was convicted and sentenced to one month imprisonment for larceny which he committed on Thursday last (July 30).
Also to serve prison time is Wilson Dore of Bath Village. He was convicted for carrying abroad an offensive weapon on Wednesday (July 29) and was sentenced to serve one month imprisonment with hard labour.
Dore was also convicted for assault and sentenced to a further one month imprisonment. The sentences are to run concurrently.
And Degamber Ricky Ramnauth of Cotton Ground has also made Her Majesty’s Prison his home for a one-month period after he was convicted for threatening language, which he had committed on April 9, 2012.
Those convicted and fined are Deon Walters of Stoney Grove, Clifford Liburd of Chicken Stone, and Jermaine Merritt of Central Avenue, Basseterre, St. Kitts; while a female, Monique Jeffers of Cotton Ground, was convicted and cautioned for failing to stop at a stop sign, driving without driver’s licence and driving without insurance.
Walters was convicted for possession of cannabis and fined $350 to be paid in one week or serve a one-week custodial sentence with hard labour. The offence was committed on committed on Monday (July 30).
Liburd was convicted for wounding and fined $1 500 to be paid in one month and, if in default, will have to serve one month in prison with hard labour; while Merritt was convicted of possession of cannabis, committed on June 21, 2012, and was fined $1 500 to be paid in three months or serve one month ii prison with hard labour.
Meanwhile, Esan Thomas of Bath Village, Nevis was arrested and charged with building breaking and larceny; offences he allegedly committed on Monday, July 16, 2012.
Police also arrested and charged Kenny Claxton of Bath Village for threatening Language, battery on police and malicious damage, while Vance Archibald of Cayon Village, St. Kitts was arrested on Saturday (July 28) for driving without insurance and driving an unlicenced vehicle.
