Official Funeral Planned for Mr. Leslie Malone

~~Adz:Left~~Roadtown, Tortola: Monday, August 18 – The official funeral of former Legislator Mr. Leslie Franklin Malone will be held on Saturday, August 23 at the Long Look Methodist Church.

Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. and the funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the family burial ground at Fat Hogs Bay, Tortola.

The body will lie in state at the House of Assembly from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Friday, August 22, when members of the public will have an opportunity to pay their last respects.

Mr. Malone died on August 12 at the age of 91. He was a Member of the Legislative Council from 1954 to 1963 as the representative for the then-Fourth District. At a time before the ministerial system of government, Mr. Malone served two terms as the Member for Trade and Production. After his tenure in the Legislative Council, Mr. Malone served as building inspector for the Public Works Department and farm manager at the Paraquita Bay Stock Farm.

The Government of the Virgin Islands joins the family and friends of the late Mr. Malone in mourning the passing of this founding father.
