CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – A male resident of Gingerland, Nevis was recently remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison in St. Kitts for allegedly indecently assaulting a minor.
This information was confirmed yesterday when Nevis Police Prosecutor Inspector Andre Mitchell told SKNVibes that Leroy Kelly of Marchman’s Road, Gingerland was charged with indecent assault on a minor and remanded to prison.
According to Inspector Mitchell, who is temporarily attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, Kelly allegedly committed the offence on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at St. Jones’ Estate.
Investigations conducted by this media house revealed that residents on Marchman’s Road had witnessed Kelly’s arrest. Initially, the circulating rumours were that a 14-year-old male Guyanese-born resident of Nevis was the victim of the indecent attack, but Inspector Mitchell confirmed in an interview that it was a local teenager.
Concerned members of the public constantly called SKNVibes in connection with the incident and were questioning the reasons as to why the police in Nevis had not made it public.
Kelly’s case is scheduled for hearing on Monday, September 1, 2008.
